World First National Glass Bottle Closed-Loop Recycling Programme Launched in the UAE

Orwell International in conjunction with TSSC Dubai has announced the launch of world’s first national glass bottle closed-loop recycling programme for the UAE. The announcement was made during Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to the UAE, KSA and Qatar led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD.

Orwell International, PEL Waste Reduction Equipment’s strategic alliance partner in the UAE and local distributor partner TSSC Dubai, have announced the launch of the world’s first national glass bottle closed-loop recycling programme in Dubai, UAE. PEL Waste Reduction Equipment will join the Jumeirah Hotel Group and local glass bottle producer Frigoglass in the programme where waste glass bottles produced within the Jumeirah Hotel Group will be crushed using the PEL bottle crusher machines and this crushed glass or cullet will be used in the manufacture of new glass bottles by Jebel Ali based Frigoglass.

Speaking from Dubai Minister Bruton said:

Orwell International is a highly innovative Irish company and it is great to see machinery designed and manufactured in Ireland being successfully employed in this very important market.

Currently waste glass bottles produced in Dubai go to landfill so the introduction of the national glass bottle closed-loop recycling programme will have a positive and sustainable impact on the environment of the Emirate. PEL’s Baby Jaws, winner of "The Best New Catering Equipment Innovation Award" at Dubai's Gulfood 2014 show and the only unit of its kind in the world and the PEL ‘Mega Jaws’ glass bottle crusher will play a major role in the programme. The machines will be located in Jumeirah Hotel Group sites and in crushing the waste glass bottles produced on these sites will enable 100% of that waste glass to be reused in the manufacture of new bottles by Frigoglass.
